The Committee on Regional Training (CORT) will be presenting a Housing Law Training April 20 – 21 in Columbus, Ohio.

This training is designed for legal aid staff from beginners to the most experienced housing law attorneys. Presenters from the Kirwan Institute for the Study of Race and Ethnicity will kick off the first day and give us a framework for discussing topics such as creative approaches to resolving housing conditions and habitability issues, affirmatively furthering fair housing, implementing VAWA protections, and dealing with the barriers to public housing associated with the broad scope of criminal activity issues. Kate Walz, Director of Housing Justice at the Shriver Center, and Sara Pratt from Relman Dane & Colfax, formerly with the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Office of Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity will be joining us. We will also have a Nuts and Bolts of Public Housing session for those new to housing law practice, as well as for those who want to brush up on the basics, and roundtables where experienced advocates can share ideas and experiences.

Mark your calendars and plan to join us in April! Agenda and registration information will follow the first week of March.
