CORT First Friday Webinar - "HUD's Proposed Makeover of its Continuum of Care (CoC) Programs for Unhoused People and Families"

Description

For the last 2 years, by way of its CoC NOFO (Notice of Funding Opportunity) process, HUD has tried to radically transform its programs for unhoused people and families.  Basically, HUD is attempting to change the model for housing assistance for the unhoused from a Housing First to a Treatment First model.

Antonia Fasanelli, Executive Director of the National Homelessness Law Center, has been at the center of the struggle to prevent HUD from making these changes.

She’ll talk about the policy changes HUD is trying to make and their impact on unhoused families, housing and service providers, and communities.  She’ll also talk about the litigation (in which NHLC has had a lead role) around the last 2 HUD CoC NOFOs and where things stand

Having a basic understanding of what HUD is trying to do to the CoC programs is valuable for every legal aid advocate whether they do housing work or not.
