CORT Migrant Farmworker Training

Description

This 2 day in-person training will take place in Indiana.

The training will be conducted by experienced staff from the farmworker programs and other legal organizations. The training is targeted to participants from any interested migrant program, as well as others who work with these issues.

The emphasis is on training summer staff to "issue spot" on a variety of issues affecting migrant and seasonal farmworkers, including agricultural employment, labor camp housing, health and safety, access to public benefits, services and immigration issues. This training will also give newer permanent staff an introduction to the various legal issues that the farmworker and immigrant worker populations face. Finally, it will serve as a refresher and update to more experienced attorneys and advocates and will have opportunities for more experienced attorneys and trainers to discuss emerging issues and best practices.
