In this webinar attorneys from Pro Seniors will cover a nursing home resident’s rights and the means of enforcing those rights. In addition, they will explore the process of defending an improper nursing home discharge and recent developments in Ohio involving patients being discharged to homeless shelters, parks, hotels, and family members. Finally, they will review some affirmative litigation against nursing homes and their attorneys.

Presenters: Miriam Hirsch Sheline, Esq.
Miriam Hirsch Sheline earned a J.D. degree from Salmon P. Chase College of Law in 1984. She is the Managing Attorney at Pro Seniors where she practices Elder Law with emphasis in housing, medicaid and consumer litigation. From 1984 to 2003 she was a partner with Hirsch & Sheline where her practice emphasized family law, probate, real estate and bankruptcy.

Jeremy Koenemann, Esq.

Jeremy Koenemann is a Staff Attorney at Pro Seniors. Jeremy earned his law degree at the University of Cincinnati College of Law in 2016. He previously earned a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work from Michigan State University in 2007 and a Master of Social Work from the University of South Carolina in 2009. Prior to returning to law school, Jeremy worked as a clinical therapist serving children and families in the Louisville metropolitan area. At the University of Cincinnati Jeremy was a Weaver Fellow and held internship positions at both Pro Seniors and the Guardian ad Litem office, which operated under the umbrella of the Hamilton County Public Defender. Jeremy also participated in the Domestic Violence and Civil Protection Order Clinic and the Indigent Defense Clinic while studying at the University of Cincinnati College of Law.
