The webinar will focus on how to use Early Intervention and school-based evidence to prove disability in children’s SSI claims. The webinar will begin with a quick discussion of the SSI disability standard before addressing Early Intervention and school records and how to use those records to prove that a child satisfies the SSI childhood disability standard.

Presenter: Tom Yates is currently the Executive Director of the Legal Council for Health Justice in Chicago. In his 35 years of legal services work, he has handled approximately 1500 individual Social Security and SSI disability claims with an emphasis on representing children seeking SSI disability benefits. He was a consultant to SSA in development of the current children’s SSI disability regulations and also worked with SSA to create eight Social Security Rulings (09-1p through 09-8p) that provide guidance on adjudicating children’s SSI claims. Tom is a 1983 graduate of the University of Iowa College of Law.
