First Friday Webinar - Lessons from the Opioid Epidemic Front Lines

Description

Jay Chaudhary is the Managing Attorney at the Indianapolis office of Indiana Legal Services, where he directs a Medical Legal Partnership with three addiction treatment centers. He is a member of the Legal Services Corporation’s national Opioid Task Force.

Courtney Crowder and Katie Marcum are 2017-18 postgraduate Legal Fellows funded by the West Virginia University Fund for Law and the Public Interest. They are staff attorneys at Legal Aid of West Virginia, where they developed and launched a Kinship Caregivers Legal Project for relatives caring for children as a result of the opioid epidemic.

Jay Chaudhary works daily with clients who are in recovery from opioid related disorders, and Courtney Crowder and Katie Marcum provide legal assistance, training, and information for kinship caregivers who are raising children traumatized by epidemic-driven abuse, neglect, and abandonment. From their respective experiences as specialist attorneys working in targeted opioid projects, they will provide essential information for Legal Aid generalist attorneys about the resources, partners, issue spotting, and case strategies critical to the clients they serve.
