As we all work to maximize our resources and seek systemic solutions to the causes and effects of poverty, we need to use all available tools to challenge statutes, regulations and policies that adversely affect the poor. Legal aid lawyers are experts in seeking legal remedies, but often feel less comfortable seeking legislative and administrative policy changes by building relationships with legislators, forming coalitions, and working with community partners.
